Hi to everyone.

I know that you have just been hanging out for the latest escapades of the travelling duo.

We left home last Monday morning at the reasonable hour of 10 ish.  Our plan was to head up to check out a free camp at Rosedale on the way to our ultimate destination of Lakes Entrance.  We stopped for our customary break of journey for coffee at Yarragon.  We have stopped there on other occasions but I think now they are starting to believe their own publicity.  They believe they are a tourist destination.  Coffee for $6.00 in the cafĂ© attached to the Bakery.  And it wasn't even very good coffee.  They have now lost us and we will continue on to the tourist mecca of Traralgon or even MOE next time.  Sad times are ahead.

Anyway not to be dissuaded, we pressed on and came to the free camp at Rosedale.  Looked great from the road, but up close, pretty average.  2 Portable toilets there had no water to flush and were surrounded by very high, snake magnetising grass.  Definitely not the place to go to in the dark.  It was then over to Plan B and we headed into Sale.  On Wikicamps there was a free camp on the banks of the lake so off we headed.  Sorry but I didn't even know there was a lake in Sale.   I must say that we were very impressed with this location.  I know I may have spoken of Sale in a derogatory manner in the past but never again.  It was a great spot and was within walking distance of the shopping centre.

After a night surrounded by nature we headed off refreshed for our next stop.  We stopped in  Bairnsdale for a coffee before continuing to Lakes Entrance.

We set up at the caravan park and had a very relaxing first day.  We are staying here for 5 days and don't really have a lot of plans.  We stayed here earlier in the year on our first trip and it is a really good privately owned park with great managers.

We have spent most of our time here going for walks and we have even had the fold up bikes out of the back of the car.  We went back to Raymond Island again for our nature walk.  If you are ever down at Bairnsdale, you really have to check out Raymond Island.  The ferry ride across is free for pedestrians and cyclists, but I think $11 is a bit expensive for cars.  All of those strange man eating jellyfish surround the ferry on the crossing, but we pressed on regardless.  Once on the island there is a koala walking track that goes for about 2 k's.  On that walk, we saw about 8 or 9 koalas and even an echidna.  The only thing we forgot was the aeroguard.  Big mistake as the mosquitoes over there just about pick you up when they latch on.  Small price to pay for our nature tour.  Your educational fact for the day:  koalas live between 10 and 15 years.  I think they sleep away 90% of it.

Went to the movies the other night and saw 'The Martian'.  It was just ok, it would have been better if it had been about 30 minutes shorter.  150 minutes about a bloke growing potatoes and talking to himself was a bit too long.

Last night we went for a walk after dinner, down to the water and saw this really cute baby swan swimming with its parents.  A cygnet Deb tells me is the correct name.  See, all of this nature stuff is starting to rub off.

Anyway not much happening at this time.  We will be heading off tomorrow morning and docking at Eden where we will be staying for 10 days.  .

Until next time.

Barry and Deb.
