We left the sheep farm at Mooralla this morning and had a very leisurely drive towards South Australia. I had such a great time on the farm. Riding the quad bike was awesome and even got to do a bit of mustering of the sheep using the quad bike. Definitely a certified farmer now.
After driving through the small country town of Coleraine, I was just blown away by the magnificent scenery. Just beautiful rolling green hills, with the shadows being cast by the clouds giving them a mystical look. I know, I should have been a nature writer. Would have loved to have got a photo but it meant stopping on double lines on a fairly narrow road. I did suggest it but of course Deb was not overly impressed with the idea.
Stopped at Casterton for a coffee and a rest for the back and yes, you guessed it, it was raining. A very small country town with very cheap real estate. Not my sort of place though as no Gloria Jeans. After leaving there and approaching S.A., saw a few signs warning us of NO FRUIT or VEGETABLES to cross the border. Anyway we stopped at the fruit bin and it was in a woeful position. On a very narrow section of the single lane highway, opposite double lines, and due to the heavy rain a soft edging on the road. Great for caravans as it was not possible to get the van totally off the road. While we were stopped there, eating 2 kgs of fruit, 4 other vans also stopped to dump their fruit. It was really quite dangerous and at one stage a huge B Double semi went roaring past, blowing his horn to show his displeasure. Don't quite know what we could have done about it though.
Arrived in Mt Gambier and once we got settled into the caravan park it was off to the Information Centre. There is quite a lot to do here so we will probably be a bit busy tomorrow. That is unless we get washed away by this bloody rain. The wind outside is howling through at the moment. No fun at all at the moment.
Anyway will be off for now as it is Revenge and Amazing Race night on the tv.
